The Jazz in Pieterburen Foundation ("Stichting Jazz in Pieterburen") is started by a couple of jazz fans and musicians from Pieterburen, in the north of the Dutch province of Groningen. They believe that many people are interested in jazz in that part of the Netherlands. Surely more than one expects when looking at the number of venues in the region.
The Jazz in Pieterburen Foundation sets out to promote and support jazz and improvised music in the province of Groningen. To achieve this, the foundation organizes concerts, open sessions and other jazz-related activities. One of those activities is the monthly
Jazzcafé.
